The Graduate School in the D.C. Metro Area provides a variety of services that contribute to the professional and personal development of graduate students located at the greater DC metro area campuses. We assist students from the admissions phase to graduation by assisting with all academic progress needs. We also support the graduate student community through a variety of events and programs designed to meet the needs of our unique student population.
Services We Provide
- Program, degree and student record changes
- Readmission and leave of absence advising
- Citizenship verification appointments for financial aid
- Plan of Study final approval
- Processing Graduate School forms such as: In-State Tuition, Reduced tuition for K-12 Educators, Change of Campus etc.
- Preliminary and Final examination approvals
- Processing of official transcripts for admissions and program transfer credits
- Greater DC metro area Commencement
Academic Resources
Transcripts and Student Information
Virginia Tech requires your official transcript to be sent to the Graduate School for record updating. The copy of your transcript uploaded in your admissions application is not deemed as official for your student record with Virginia Tech. Failure to submit your official transcript will result in a hold placed on your student account.
The Graduate School will ONLY accept official sealed copies of the transcript.
Below are multiple ways to submit your official transcript to the Graduate School:
- The university can email the electronic official transcript directly to: DCgradschool@vt.edu
- The university can mail the official transcript directly to the Graduate School to the address below:

Once your official transcript has been received by the Graduate School, your record will be updated accordingly.

- The Graduate Student Services Office does not release information regarding student attendance, degree, or transcripts.
