Polycom

The Polycom View Stations uses the internet to connect "interactively" between other locations with the same technology. This is ideal for meetings between offices and can be set up by users without the need for TLOS technicians. This medium is more for non-distance-learning classes and at the NVC, these systems are reserved for meetings (v. TLOS classes).

The Northern Virginia Center has four Polycom Video System's located in rooms 207, 320, and 401 as well as a mobile Polycom for special events. On this page you will find various resources to familize yourself with the Polycom Equipment.

Before your Polycom Video Conference:

  • Read the NVC Video Conferencing Policy:
Policy 11: Use of Self‐Service Videoconferencing Equipment for Course Delivery

  • Consult with NVC Facilities
If you are unsure on what you will need and how to setup a video conference, please consult the Facilities staff before the event. We want you to have the best experience possible.

  • Reserve a video conference room
Like all other rooms at the Northern Virginia Center, reservations for the Information Services video conference rooms are made through NVC Facilities. Make sure that you check the Video Polycom or Zoom option in the Classroom Needs section.

  • Get the remote site information
For your remote site, please be sure to get a remote technical contact, a backup phone number, and the unit's IP address.

  • Perform a connection test
It is strongly recommended to perform a test call to the remote site before the date of the class/event. This is to make sure that everything will be in working order from each connection site.
